AUDITION CLASS

For most actors, auditioning is a guessing game, in which one hopes to capture the attention of a director, or casting director. But, most actors do not really know what they are doing. Basically, they believe that being a good actor is all they need to be. No actor wants to be type cast. But mostly, they hope that they will do something that captures the attention of the person for whom they are auditioning.

Actually, successful auditioning is based on your ability to define yourself, so that you know who you are as a person and as an actor, and what kind of roles you see yourself in. The heart of auditioning is your ability to perceive yourself clearly, and present yourself as a person, and in a role that will show off who you are, and what you are capable of doing. It also will show the person you audition for, how well you perceive yourself. And, how you believe they should cast you. You may not like being type cast, but it is better to do it yourself, than to leave it to the person you audition for, who will certainly do it.

My audition class is about you defining yourself, and choosing the material that best represents the actor you are. It is about a clarity of perception on your part.

Initially, the class is about you defining yourself. Who are you? Who are you like? An oriental Paul Newman, a modern Myrna Loy, Bette Davis with a sense of humor.

Then, you choose two monologues that best define you and enable you to show the actor you are.

Auditioning may be incorporated into the New York 8 week program, or as a separate class.

Audition workshops are open to actors who have worked with me, and whom I approve for participation. Those who have never worked with me may submit an application with a photo and resume. Acceptance for participation is completely at my discretion.

The cost for five sessions of the Audition Workshop will be $1000.00. It is possible that I will inaugurate this workshop in some of my European workshops.
